1. Marzipan: Back Up

catlogoA cute and adorable tabby and white kitten was found in front of the Sharjah post office on a hot summer’s day, and thanks to the same life saver that saved the life of Mango, Marzipan now “Lives to tell the Tale”. Marzipan went to Cheryl (a foster mom for feline friends) when he was only a week old with one eye open and while growing up Marzipan had a wonderful female Persian cat to call “mom”. Marzipan now lives with Cheryl and enjoys every moment of his life. His favorite hobby is eating and due to this favorite pass time has been nick named “Gentle Giant” and always manages to win the hearts of all the visitors because of his obesity. He is always up to mischief and tends to break mostly everything he keeps his paw on.

2. Elle, Tam Tam, Willow, Merlin Back Up

catlogoFour siblings found in a horrible construction site and now all in extremely good homes is a story like no other. Living with their mom in a place that cannot be anywhere close to calling safe or home was where these 4 siblings were born. Elle the eldest, Tam Tam the second, Lucy now Willow the third and last but not the least Jerry (now Merlin)! Rescued during the Holy month of Ramadan when food was scarce, these kittens were literally hanging on with the meal they had had days ago.

The first to be found was Tam Tam and Jerry. Had Jerry been left there that night we wouldn’t have surely seen him the next morning. Hanging in with his brother Tam Tam, Jerry lay flat on the ground in the busy construction. Approaching him slowly thinking that he might run away, all we had to do was to lift his lifeless body which I’m sure weighed less than a feather and put him and his brother into the carrier. Their mom and two sisters had gone off to find food, because it was during this time that people broke their fast. Sitting there patiently they waited to dig in to what ever was left over. Not long after were the other 2 kittens rescued, and they seemed to be in good health. After fostering them for over 2 months they were ready to go and now all of them spend their nights with no worries of how they are to find food or what will happen the next day. These kittens were survivors and they “Lived to tell the Tale”.

3. Mango Back Up
catlogoA beautiful ginger male met his fate under a busy tunnel after being thrown out by a running car. But had it not have been to a wonderful life saver Mango would have not “Lived to tell the Tale”. This beautiful and extremely lucky cat now spends his life with a wonderful family. Cristina, Mango’s mom loves him dearly and Zahara (Cristina’s 2 year old daughter) enjoys have long naps with her feline brother. Zahara and Mango do everything together, thy nap together and even play together. Mango’s wonderful personality makes him a lovable chap and his good nature gives other stray kittens someone to call “dad”. This is truly a tale to tell.

4. AlunaBack Up
catlogoAn adorable female calico kitten rescued by Alaa one of the AUS students and as well as an active member of our group is a wonderful story indeed! It was a matter of life or death for this extremely beautiful cat. Having lost her mom in a horrible rain storm Aluna found shelter in a deep gutter, and thanks to Alaa she as well “Lived to tell the Tale”. Meowing as loud as she can from her “safe haven”, she attracted Alaa’s attention and was taken out and now in her warm hands was heading towards her room. Now a year old is living a happy life, one that she deserves!

5. Inty Back Up
catlogoA gorgeous Gordon’s mix was rescued at 4.30a.m from the Dubai International air port by Obrien on his way home from work. Extremely adorable and extremely skinny it took some time for him to get up back on his feet. But once raised back to health he was everything but a skinny cat and “Lived to tell the Tale”. His distinct spots and beautiful color s started to appear and his personality started to show. Like his name which means “sun, for energy” it’s his never ending energy and his warm and affectionate love that makes him a lovable chap. He now lives with Cristina, Zahara and Tom and has a new cat brother Mango (above) and enjoys playing with Zahara and talking to Cristina.

6. Lesly: Back Up

catlogoA beautiful calico female that had been abandoned at the vet’s was taken over by Cheryl and raised back to health. Having homed her the first time she was returned back after a couple of months for her vicious behavior after being abused by them. It took her over three months to settle in and yet progress was slow. It reached the point to where the foster parents could no longer endure it and was thinking on putting her to sleep but yet managed to carry on tacking care of her . However it was Lesly’s luck and a very patient grade four school teacher that decided to give Lesly another chance. Wilma that had just arrived from South Africa adopted Lesly and gave her a chance “to tell her Tale”

7. Eartha Kitten Back Up

catlogoA wonderful pure black kitten was rescued by Kimberley (a volunteer) seconds before she was going to be “KICKED” to the main road by a stranger. It was a busy day like no other for Kimberley that day, and was on her way to an art exhibition when she saw a small ball of fluff on the edge of the pavement and was going to be kicked off by a stranger.
Wasting no time she ran across to the kitten, picked it up and glared back at the stranger and took Eartha into her jeep and gave her some milk and brought her home. Eartha surely has “lived to tell the tale” and is now having a great ball over in Arizona with Kimberley’s cousin, Brad.

catlogoThese are just some of the cats or kittens that were homed others include: Zoee, Yolanda, Xenovia, Ginger, Hinges, Howard, Lyly, Frieda, Rosa, Lynell, Angie, Sushi, Rose, Lilly, Norman, Eldrige, Moi, Pourquoi, Calli, Ozzy, Olive and the list goes on…..

These are just a few of the cats that we have had, the list continues and will go on forever until the population is under control and all donations of food, money and items have been put into good use and all of this is just for the felines that are out there without a safe haven or food or water.
